3 Incredible Features of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner

More and more airlines are relying on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner – such as United Airlines and American Airlines. One PMM reader shares with us their favorite features of this plane!

This is a long-haul aircraft largely used for international flights. The plane has been on the market for a few years, with more deliveries on the way.

Here are three unique features of one of Boeing’s most advanced aircraft:

  1. The plane is made of a carbon fiber material, while planes are traditionally made of aluminum.
  1. The windows are bigger. This makes for a more enjoyable in-fight experience. Plus, there are no pull-down shades on these windows. They can be electronically dimmed at the touch of a button just below the window. How’s that for comfort?
  1. The air is pressurized at a lower altitude than most planes. This is why many people leave a 10-plus hour flight on a 787 and feel much more refreshed than say a Boeing 777 or an Airbus A330.

You may also notice that the plane is much quieter – both for passengers inside the plane and for those living near airports who are dealing with the loud engine noises from arriving and departing planes.

If you take a look at the 787’s engine – which mainly use GE or Rolls-Royce engines, you’ll notice a unique-designed back edge of the engine which is supposed to reduce noise.
